2 Kings

“Go and consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if I will recover from this injury?”

“Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?”

“Why are ye now turned back?”

“There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?”

“What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?”

“Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word?”

“Stay here; the LORD has sent me to Bethel?”

“Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day?”

“Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day?”

“Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”

“Where is the LORD God of Elijah?”

“Look, we your servants have fifty able men. Let them go and look for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has picked him up and set him down on some mountain or in some valley?”

“Did I not say unto you, Go not?”

“Wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle?”

“Which way shall we go up?”

“Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him?”

“What have I to do with thee?”

“What shall I do for thee?”

“What is to be done for thee?”

“What then is to be done for her?”

“Wilt thou go to him to day?”

“Is it well with thee?”

“Did I desire a son of my lord?”

“What, should I set this before an hundred men?”

“Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy?”

“Hast thou rent thy clothes?”

“I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy?”

“Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel?”

“My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it?”

“Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth?”

“But may the LORD forgive your servant for this one thing: When my master enters the temple of Rimmon to bow down and he is leaning on my arm and I have to bow there also—when I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the LORD forgive your servant for this?”

“My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the LORD lives, I will run after him and get something from him?”

“Is all well?”

“Whence comest thou, Gehazi?”

“Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee?”

“Where fell it?”

“Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?”

“How shall we do?”

“This is not the road and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are looking for?”

“The king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them?”

“Wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow?”

“If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee?”

“What aileth thee?”

“See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head?”

“What should I wait for the LORD any longer?”

“If the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be?”

“Why sit we here until we die?”

“I will tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They know we are starving; so they have left the camp to hide in the countryside, thinking, ‘They will surely come out, and then we will take them alive and get into the city.’?”

“Have some men take five of the horses that are left in the city. Their plight will be like that of all the Israelites left here—yes, they will only be like all these Israelites who are doomed. So let us send them to find out what happened?”

“Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?”

“Why weepeth my lord?”

“What, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing?”

“What said Elisha to thee?”

“Unto which of all us?”

“Is all well?”

“Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?”

“Thus saith the king, Is it peace?”

“Thus saith the king, Is it peace?”

“Is it peace, Jehu?”

“Pick up Naboth’s body and throw him on that plot, in accordance with the word of the LORD?”

“Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?”

“Who is on my side?”

“How then shall we stand?”

“But who slew all these?”

“Who are you?”

“Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart?”

“For why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?”

“Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?”

“On whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?”

“Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?”

“How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?”

“Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it?”

“Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words?”

“Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?”

“Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad?”

“Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?”

“It may be that the LORD your God will hear all the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the LORD your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives?”

“And shalt thou be delivered?”

“As Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?”

“Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed?”

“Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it?”

“What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?”

“What said these men?”

“What have they seen in thine house?”

“Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?”

“Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found?”

“Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard…’?”
