Rebuking

“What meanest thou, O sleeper?”

“Why hast thou done this?”

“Who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”

“O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things?”

“Can ye not discern the signs of the times?”

“How long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you?”

“Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?”

“Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?”

“Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?”

“Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?”

“Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?”

“Why doth this generation seek after a sign?”

“How long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you?”

“Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer?”

“Who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”

“Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”

“O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you?”

“Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?”

“Then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?”

“How is it that ye do not discern this time?”

“Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?”

“Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?”

“Why tempt ye me?”

“Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?”

“Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?”

“Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?”

“Art thou also of Galilee?”

“Answerest thou the high priest so?”

“Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?”

“Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? And after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart?”

“How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord?”

“Wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?”

“Sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?”

“Thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?”

“Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?”

“Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?”

“Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?”

“Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?”

“Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?”

“Who art thou that judgest another man's servant?”

“Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?”

“Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? No, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?”

“What? Have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? Or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this?”

“Do ye look on things after the outward appearance?”

“If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?”

“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?”

“Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”

“Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God?”

“Who art thou that judgest another?”
